AfroVibes Festival - Amaqhawe

Amaqhawe - COscar O'Ryan Photography

Amaqhawe is an energetic and provocative South African dance performance from choreographer Mzo Gasa and eight dancers from Sibonelo Dance from Cape Town.

Amaqhawe means 'heroes' in isiZulu and is a dance performance about memories, resistance and hope and the struggle of young people who stand up for their future. The dancers show the perseverance of young people in South Africa to make their dreams come true. To what extent are we willing to fight what we stand for, like young people today who are taking to the streets to strike and demonstrate for the climate. Amaqhawe is a call for solidarity, perseverance and our future.
