During India Dance Festival, Indian dance and culture are celebrated for ten days. Discover the unprecedented wealth of Indian dance in exuberant performances that are both classical and contemporary.
Since 2011, India Dance Festival has been an unprecedented value in the dance world where traditional styles such as Bharatanatyam and Odissi come together with fresh, new interpretations by talented makers. A festival where leading companies and aspiring choreographers from home and abroad meet. We open with the grand spectacle opera Cloud Messenger and have an international hit on the Korzo floor with Fires of Varanasi. Well-known Korzo names such as Poernima Gobardhan (former Korzo maker) and Sooraj Subramaniam (dancer with Kalapana Raghuraman, among others) present new work and there is a nice side program with introductions, workshops and discussions.

Cloud Messenger 16 to 18 May
This year, Collectief Klapstuk presents the world premiere of Cloud Messenger during the opening of the India Dance Festival in Korzo. This contemporary, interdisciplinary music and dance performance is in full preparation.
Cycle 18 and 19 May
On this evening Chandenie Gobardhan presents two pieces that both revolve around different phases of existence and life: Creator and Rudra
Forbidden May 22
In the solo 'Forbidden' Aditi Mangaldas collects examples from all kinds of cultures to express a range of emotions to traverse, while she claims the desire and makes it her own
STRĪ May 23 and 24
In STRĪ (lit. woman), choreographer Poernima Gobardhan shares an indescribable woman. The only way to introduce this woman is to name what the woman is not.
Fires of Varanasi: Dance of the Eternal Pilgrim May 24 and 25
Eleven dancers undertake a sacred pilgrimage through changing landscapes in search of a mystical connection between the divine and the human. The dancers are absorbed in an ecstatic and communal prayer.
Reflections of an Indian Dancer May 26
Reflections of an Indian Dancer is a daring and vulnerable monologue with spoken word and dance, where the audience is invited to explore Sooraj's inner world and their own identity.
