Festival Designkwartier 2017 pays tribute to Mondrian As part of the Mondrian to Dutch Design year Designkwartier Festival presents 'In Stijl', a dynamic exhibition which demonstrates how deeply Mondrian's legacy has penetrated the DNA of contemporary design. In 2017 it is exactly one hundred years ago that artistic movement De Stijl was founded. In the Netherlands this is celebrated with a range of inspiring activities and exhibitions. Festival Designkwartier celebrates too. Together with curators Woes van Haaften and Roosje van Donselaar the festival has asked Lex Pott, Bastiaan de Nennie, Sander Wassink, Stefan Peters and NOMAN Studio to add a contemporary layer to the art and philosophy of the Dutch master. Like the members of De Stijl did at the time, these contemporary designers follow the ideology and imagery of Mondrian. The exhibition can be visited from 19 May to 28 May inclusive in Quartair at Toussaintkade 55.
Pop-up restaurant Mondrian's Meal Wish to sit down to a four-course meal in the style of Mondrian after an inspiring festival day? That's possible. Spoon of Art organizes during the Designkwartier two stylish pop-up diners on 19 and 20 May which are both culinary and visually inspired by the principles of De Stijl and Mondrian's special eating habits. The diners will be held in the stylish Toussainthuis, Toussaintkade 21a. Reservation required, via pop-up-restaurant-in-de-stijl.eventbrite.nl
