'Museum Sophiahof - from the Indies to now' is a national museum where the significance of the colonial past of the Dutch East Indies for the Netherlands today comes to life and where the meaning of colonization, war and migration becomes tangible.

Museum Sophiahof has an exhibition space, rooms for events and cultural programmes, meeting rooms, offices, a knowledge centre/library, a museum shop and a museum café.

Exhibition 'Fighting for Freedom'
The first exhibition 'Fighting for Freedom. The many faces of resistance', has been compiled by the Indies Memorial Center and Moluccan Historical Museum, with contributions from Pelita, among others. We tell the stories of resistance fighters and of the common man or woman who committed great or small acts of resistance. The stories of descendants are also central: what do the stories mean to them? Fighting for Freedom can be seen until July.

Knowledge and expertise
If you are looking for information about the colonial past, the Second World War and decolonization, and the migration history and culture of people with roots in the Dutch East Indies, Museum Sophiahof is the place to be. Our knowledge centre/library offers scientists, students, pupils and other interested parties access to a (digital) collection of publications and scientific work.

Public programs and education
In collaboration with various partners, Museum Sophiahof develops public programming and educational programs for primary, secondary and further education.
