I recently visited Hortus in a party of three. I was thoroughly impressed by all aspects of the restaurant. The decor and atmosphere were very pleasant. The food storage area was an enjoyable sight. The food was delightful. I spoke with the very knowledgeable and amiable chef and owner who explained that the menu consisted of typical cuisine, usually from Surinam but with a modern twist. As such, it was very well presented and delicious. The carpaccio of beets and Pom were especially good. The price provides fantastic value for money. I visited for my girlfriends birthday and they very cheerfully put candles in the dessert. The staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the food. I thoroughly recommend visiting and will return.

Nice place with a homey atmosphere. We went for breakfast, food was homemade like. Expect nothing special or extra. Waiters took a little time to come to us and serve the food. Nice location.

Really quaint look and feel to the place with friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended if looking for an early morning coffee and breakfast if you're just passing through Den Haag like I did.

Food is so yummy. I've had breakfast and lunch here. Every dish delivers, especially the tomato/mozzarella sandwich and veggie burger. Yum.My.

A real gem in the Hague. Haute vegetarian cuisine at reasonable prices. The dishes are small, but relatively inexpensive so you can same a little of everything. The service is great. The bank vault holding all the kitchen vittles in the basement is worth a look.
