In August 2017, Jamie Oliver has opened a new restaurant in The Hague. Jamie's Italian, the restaurant concept created by the well-known British TV chef, is located in the Sijthoff City building on Grote Marktstraat, making the royal city home to the second branch of the Jamie Oliver restaurant in the Netherlands.
Jamie Oliver: ‘I'm very excited that we are going to have a second Jamie's Italian in the Netherlands, this time in the cosmopolitan city of The Hague. The city fuses nationalities and tastes and I'm looking forward to bringing the rustic, family approach to Italian food we offer and mixing it up with some great flavours from local artisan Dutch food suppliers.’
City of The Hague
As well as Jamie, the City of The Hague is also enthusiastic about the arrival of Jamie’s Italian. Alderman Karsten Klein: ‘I heartily welcome the arrival of Jamie’s Italian. The branch is going to make the city centre even more attractive. Jamie’s renewed concept fits in with our vision on hospitality, and it will create jobs.’
Jamie's Italian began as a collaboration between Jamie Oliver and his mentor Gennaro Contaldo. The first restaurant opened its doors in 2008 in Oxford. There are now 42 Jamie’s Italian restaurants in the United Kingdom and over 25 restaurants internationally, including Australia, Dubai and Brazil. People all over the world love the restaurant group thanks to the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere and rustic Italian dishes. All the restaurants serve classic Italian food, made from the best, sustainable and local ingredients, like the fresh pasta made at the restaurant every day.
