Den Engel lunchroom is one of the cosiest spots in the Statenkwartier of The Hague. Since 1976 customers have been finding their way here, around the corner from shopping street Frederik Hendriklaan. Not least because of the homely feeling, which typifies the atmosphere at Den Engel. In fair weather, the garden terrace is an opportunity to take this cosiness outside. Not only is Den Engel the perfect spot to enjoy delicious drinks or a simple meal; for years, the lunch room has also served as a meeting place for musicians, writers and visual artists. Over the last few years, the lunch room has further increased its offering of cultural activities, including music performances and collaborations with visual artists.
The Frederik Hendriklaan - at less than one kilometre long - is one of the most beautiful shopping streets in the Netherlands. Along the 'Fred' (as the locals call it) you'll find an enormous diversity of over a hundred shops, ranging from clothing and living to food.
