The Hague is celebrating the 200th anniversary of seaside resort Scheveningen with 'Feest aan Zee' (Seaside Festival). All year round there will be special events and exhibitions, and the city will be decked out for the celebrations. 'Feest aan Zee' will be based on five themes, including the history of bathing culture and swimwear and the strong links between Scheveningen and the city centre. Highlights will include the finish of the Volvo Ocean Race, the opening of the beach season and the WC Sand Sculpture Festival will be held from 19 May to the end of August 2018 on Lange Voorhout. The sand sculptors are set to start work on 19 May. The winners will be announced on 27 May.
