DNR Filmclub | A Night of Queer Art

Celebrating queer and gender nonconforming identities in films and art.

To celebrate the birthday of DNR, during the month of May we’ll have special screenings with guests and many surprises!

A Night of Queer Art: Un chant d’amour + Female Trouble
Curators and artists from the University of Amsterdam invite you to a night of celebrating queer and gender nonconforming identities. Drift through the art installation in Het Diepe, then float up to the surface at the Grote Zaal where the screening of two iconic films will take place.

Un Chant d’Amour [A Song of Love] (Jean Genet, 1950)
A poetic view into the imagined romance of two prisoners in France. In his only film, writer/artist Jean Genet celebrates the beauty of love, even in the most unexpected places.

Female Trouble (John Waters, 1974)
John Waters' trash spectacular demolished the boundaries of good taste and heteronormative gender constraints. Starring the legendary drag performer Divine, teenage girl Dawn Davenport’s life takes a dark and criminal turn when her parents fail to give her cha-cha heels for Christmas.

19:00 - Start of the program: art installation by Chris Baas, Justine Gensse and Simone Aumaj.
20:15 - Students’ introduction of film program + Un chant d’amour
20:45 - Female Trouble

See you there. Don’t forget your cha-cha heels!
