DNR Filmclub | Afro-American month: Do the Right Thing

During April we will screen films by and about African-Americans, ranging from art house to blaxploitation, all these films have in common a subversive undertone and much coolness on the surface.

Do the Right Thing (Spike Lee, 1989)
The hottest day of the year explodes on-screen in this vibrant look at a day in the life of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Featuring a stellar ensemble cast that includes Danny Aiello, Samuel L. Jackson, John Turturro and many great others, Spike Lee’s powerful portrait of urban racial tensions sparked controversy while earning popular and critical praise.

Other films in the DNR Filmclub Afro-American month:
Di 10 | The Spook Who Sat by the Door (Ivan Dixon, 1973)
Di 17 | Bird (Clint Eastwood, 1988)
Di 24 | I Am Not Your Negro (Raoul Peck, 2016)
