DNR Filmclub | Tribute to Fritz Lang: Scarlet Street

In correspondence with the Sounds of Silence festival, during March our regular film program will present talking films by the former silent film master director Fritz Lang.

Scarlet Street (1945)
When a man in mid-life crisis (Edward G. Robinson) befriends a young woman (Joan Bennett), her venal fiancé persuades her to con him out of the fortune they mistakenly assume he possesses.
Widely regarded as one of Fritz Lang’s best films, “Scarlet Street” is based on the French novel La Chienne (The Bitch) by Georges de La Fouchardière. Somewhere between film noir and a (very) black comedy, the film was banned in the U.S. for excessive violence and immorality.

Films of Fritz Lang this month in DNR Filmclub:
Di 20 | Scarlet Street (1945)
Di 27 | The Big Heat (1953)
