DNR Filmclub | Tribute to Fritz Lang: The Woman in the Window

In correspondence with the Sounds of Silence festival, during March our regular film program will present talking films by the former silent film master director Fritz Lang.

The Woman in the Window (1944)
When a conservative middle-aged professor (Edward G. Robinson) engages in a minor romance with a femme fatale (Joan Bennett), he is plunged into a nightmarish quicksand of blackmail and murder.
A film noir about film noir, it’s an endlessly witty and suspenseful exercise in genre deconstruction –as Robinson’s professor conjures himself a nocturnal adventure in which he attempts to get away with murder. With a terrific supporting cast, it’s a gorgeously mounted game of cat and mouse, the fun coming from the mouse’s position (for the most part) atop the cat.

Films of Fritz Lang this month in DNR Filmclub:
Di 13 | The Woman in the Window (1944)
Di 20 | Scarlet Street (1945)
Di 27 | The Big Heat (1953)
