Under the Binnenhof
The excavations carried out by archaeologists from The Hague during the renovation of the Binnenhof have yielded many special finds.
Archaeologists from the municipality of The Hague have been conducting excavations on and around the Binnenhof for decades, but never as intensively as now during the renovation. The renovation offers opportunities to conduct archaeological research in places where this would normally not be possible.
Not only are the buildings of great value, but also the traces and remains of earlier phases of the complex, which are located in the subsurface. This soil archive dates back to the 13th century. Recent research has shown that there is also archaeology from the Bronze Age and the Iron Age.
In this exhibition which can be seen from November 11 until December 6 visitors can see what the excavations have yielded so far. Of course visitors can see many special finds that have been found during excavations on the Binnenhof in recent decades and everyone can play the virtual game that was specially created for the renovation.
