In The Opera Circus, OPERA2DAY and the Nederlandse Bachvereniging pay homage to the grand master of dramatic music: George Friedrich Handel and the spectacle theatre of his time. Furious and moving arias alternated in his work. With artistry and quick set changes, visitors were also visually enchanted. Using these old theatre techniques and contemporary circus, the magic of baroque opera is now being revived.

The show sees how two gods are embroiled in age-old feuds. In an apocalyptic landscape, they fight each other fiercely. Their war of attrition seems hopeless, until a circus troupe in transit is stranded near them. From then on, everything changes. Uninhibited, frivolous and confident, the young circus troupe sets the world in motion again. Colour returns, love blossoms. A happy ending lies ahead!
