What does NATO actually mean to The Hague? Is it just a world organisation about security and cooperation, or is there more to it than that? As world leaders gather in the Hofstad on 24 and 25 June for the NATO summit, 22 artists from The Hague show how they represent this big, abstract theme. In The Hague Art Circle's group exhibition, political poetry, power art, and security become something you can see, feel and discuss.

Group exhibition of 22 artists from The Hague

In the exhibition organised by Rob Chevallier, artists each shape the concept of NATO in their own way. Some do so with sharp criticism, others with wonder or personal stories. After all, how do we capture themes such as international protection or political influence in a painting, photograph or installation? The result is a multicoloured palette of ideas, in which NATO is not only a military alliance, but also a source of questions, concerns and inspiration. From Martin Sjardijn to Sona Sahakian and from poetic imagery to confrontational statements, this exhibition invites you to look differently not only at art, but also at The Hague's role on the world stage.
