Dive into the wonderful underwater world
At SEA LIFE Scheveningen, you step into a fascinating world full of marine animals, big and small. From impressive sharks and graceful rays to playful otters and curious penguins, you will discover the underwater life of our oceans in 45 colourful aquariums. The indoor attraction is ideal for families with children aged 2 to 14, even when it is raining. Take part in a treasure hunt, attend a feeding session or enjoy extra activities in the school holidays. And with the promenade and the beach just around the corner, your day out will be a real seaside experience.
Behind the Scenes Tour
Curious to find out what goes on behind the scenes at SEA LIFE Scheveningen? During the exclusive Behind the Scenes Tour, you’ll get a unique glimpse into the aquarium and discover how the animals are cared for on a daily basis.
Accompanied by an experienced member of staff, you’ll visit parts of SEA LIFE that are normally off-limits to visitors. You’ll learn more about the technical installations, the care of the marine animals and the daily tasks of the animal carers. You’ll also hear interesting stories and surprising facts about the underwater world and the aquarium’s inhabitants.
Virtual Reality
Discover the underwater world in a unique way with SEA LIFE Scheveningen’s Virtual Reality experience. Take a spectacular virtual dive without getting wet and experience the ocean as if you were swimming right in the middle of it.
During this innovative VR experience, you’ll come face to face with impressive marine creatures, including sharks, humpback whales, manta rays and other extraordinary inhabitants of the ocean. Thanks to lifelike images and 360-degree technology, you’ll experience the underwater world more closely than ever before.
Feeding times
Every day SEA LIFE has feeding sessions with different animals, which you can attend. You will receive the programme with the exact times at the entrance.
Underwater tunnel
A typical tropical experience is the underwater tunnel in SEA LIFE. Here you can experience what it's like to take a dive in tropical seas. Surrounded by sea animals and beautiful corals, you'll be amazed at the magical underwater world in which turtles and sharks swim above your head.
Touch pool
Would you like to experience underwater animals close up? You can in the SEA LIFE interactive touch pool! Different underwater animals that live near the coast can be touched under the supervision of an employee. Feel a real starfish, hold a crab and learn all about these animals.
Nature conservation
In addition to showing the beautiful world of the seas and oceans, SEA LIFE also works towards nature conservation. The attraction makes visitors aware of how important this is and regularly contributes to the conservation of sea life. In this way, SEA LIFE endeavours to ensure that the underwater world is not just on show in its aquariums, but that it can also be admired in the wild.
Scheveningen
SEA LIFE is surrounded by a host of other attractions in Scheveningen, such as the Pier, Museum Beelden aan Zee, the Circustheater and Holland Casino. The immediate vicinity of SEA LIFE offers a wealth of activities for young and old during every season. At the Netherlands' most famous coastal attraction, The Pier, you can visit a cosy market almost every weekend. After a refreshing walk along the beach, drop in at the restaurants and cafés on the boulevard and the year-round beach clubs to enjoy a delicious dinner with a view of the sea. The Pathé cinema, Circustheater and Holland Casino guarantee a great evening out in Scheveningen. The historic city centre of The Hague is only fifteen minutes from Scheveningen beach!
Directions
SEA LIFE is located right on Scheveningen's Boulevard. If you're coming by car, once off the motorway, follow the signs for Scheveningen Bad. There are a number of car parks in the immediate vicinity. For further information on the best route, accessibility and parking in Scheveningen please visit denhaag.com/nl/scheveningen. SEA LIFE is also easy to get to by public transport. A number of trams and buses will take you from either train station in The Hague to Scheveningen in just quarter of an hour. Disembark at Kurhausplein, and you'll reach SEA LIFE in about five minutes.
Accessibility
SEA LIFE is located on the boulevard of Scheveningen, near the Kurhaus and De Pier. Please note that the boulevard will be renovated until the summer of 2025. SEA LIFE will remain accessible. For the last 100 metres towards SEA LIFE on the central part of the boulevard, follow the colourful signage on site. The aquarium attraction can be reached quickly and easily from the centre of The Hague by public transport, car and bicycle. It will take you about 15 minutes in all cases. Those travelling by public transport can take tram lines 1 and 9 or bus lines 21, 22 and 23. From The Hague Central Station, you can take tram 9 towards Scheveningen. From The Hague Hollands Spoor station, HTM trams 1 and 9 will take you to the beach. Get off at the Kurhaus stop and walk to SEA LIFE in five minutes. By car, follow the signs for Scheveningen Bad from the motorway. There are several car parks in the immediate vicinity of SEA LIFE: Parking Nieuwe Parklaan, Parking Kurhaus and Parking Scheveningen Strand. These are open seven days a week 24 hours a day and are all within a ten-minute walk of SEA LIFE. Especially with nice weather, this is the quickest way. There are lots of unguarded bicycle parking spaces in Scheveningen. Right on the beach, there are also several guarded Biesieklette bicycle sheds, where you can park your bike for free.
