From A to Sea

A day or weekend at the beach in Scheveningen or Kijkduin? Check here how to reach the beach the easiest way - by bike, public transport, part-wheeler or car. That way you avoid traffic jams and save time.

Plan your trip to Scheveningen or Kijkduin

Whether you take the tram or bus, there are plenty of ways to get to the beach using public transport in The Hague. If you are smart, take advantage of this because you will avoid long traffic jams. Do you prefer not to sit in a crowded tram or bus? Then leave at a less busy time, so not at 09.00 in the morning or 18.00 in the evening. Or choose a quiet stretch of beach.

By tram or bus (public transport)

Best choice on busy days!

  • Extra trams in summer: Strand Express (line 9S) between The Hague HS/CS and Scheveningen (12:00 - 20:00, without stops, 10 min travelling time).

Trams to Scheveningen:

  • Tram 1, 9 → Scheveningen North

  • Tram 11 → Strandweg

  • Tram 12 → Duindorp (Markenseplein)

Busses:

  • Bus 22 → Duindorp / coast

  • Bus 23 → Scheveningen North

  • Bus 28 → Zuiderstrand

Tickets: 2-hour ticket € 4,70 | Day ticket € 8,30

Travel tip: Travel outside rush hour (not around 09:00 or 18:00) or check from A to Sea for information.

Accessibility to The Hague beaches for the disabled

The Hague's beaches are easily accessible for people with physical disabilities.

You travel there by public transport, taxi or regional taxi (such as AV 070). In Scheveningen, you can rent an (electric) beach wheelchair or ScoutCrawler at Biesieklette (Strandweg 10 or 171), which allows you to go to the beach independently. Check the Biesieklette website for reservations, times and rates.
