Veterans’ Day parade and events at Malieveld cancelled due to extreme heat!

The veterans’ parade during the national Veterans’ Day in The Hague will not take place on Saturday. Due to the expected high temperatures, the parade has been cancelled. The event at Malieveld has also been cancelled.

The opening programme at the Koninklijke Schouwburg will go ahead as planned. The organisers announced this on Friday. The opening ceremony will be broadcast by Omroep MAX on NPO1 and on Omroep West. It can also be followed via www.veteranendag.nl

With this decision, the organisers aim to protect the health and safety of veterans, visitors and volunteers during the expected heatwave.

A day full of encounters and recognition

As a tribute to all veterans, the National Veterans Day Committee organizes the Dutch Veterans Day in The Hague every last Saturday in June. Of course there is also a complete program on Saturday the 27th of June.

On Saturday, 27 June 2026, Dutch Veterans' Day will once again take place in The Hague. It is the day on which the Netherlands thanks its veterans for their service in the cause of peace. The essence of Veterans' Day remains unchanged: it is all about meeting, recognising and respecting Dutch veterans. On this day, visitors and participants enjoy an impressive and valuable experience thanks to a varied programme, with the national parade and fly-past as highlights.

History

Dutch Veterans Day is an annual tribute in The Hague to all Dutch veterans. During the event various ceremonies take place a parade and a fly-past over the parade point.

National event

The Netherlands has more than 110,000 veterans – young and old, male and female – who have served in the service of peace. As a tribute to the veterans, the National Veterans Day Committee organizes the Dutch Veterans Day in The Hague every last Saturday in June.

Festive day

The Dutch Veterans Day is also a festive day. Not just for veterans, but for everyone. So come and watch the impressive and colorful national parade of thousands of veterans. Veterans, soldiers, dozens of music bands and historical and modern military equipment will present themselves to the whole of The Hague and the Netherlands.
