West Den Haag and ANNA Vastgoed & Cultuur want to give the public a stronger feeling for the unique cultural-historical significance of the building, while at the same time providing an insight into a new era. That of the imagination.

Because of the ongoing success there are 4 guided tours each Sundays. The first three tours are guided in Dutch and the last tour is guided in English. This is suitable for expats, tourists and students. The tours are accompanied by a new Dutch and English brochure.

The original ambassador’s room, the beautiful auditorium, and lots of offices in a quirky office building. Have you always been curious about this iconic building? This is your chance to take a look. From spring 2019 Onze Ambassade opened its doors at Lange Voorhout and every Sunday we organize special tours to the special library, the auditorium, the conference room and the ambassador’s room. The tours last 1 hour and there is a limited number of seats available each time. Book your ticket on time.

The American Embassy was designed by the famous Hungarian-American architect Marcel Breuer and has a unique architectural and content meaning. This building (1959) plays an important role in Breuer’s oeuvre, because it is one of the first large buildings he has completed. At the same time, the special window/gable construction makes the building just as special as the MET-Breuer museum in New York. The national monument is an icon of post-war reconstruction and a symbol of ‘Pax Americana’. At the same time, the building is an important monument to perhaps the most influential cultural movement of the 20th century: Bauhaus. An institute that from 1919 to 1933 introduced a groundbreaking new vision of bringing together various art disciplines and technology.

Onze Ambassade is an initiative of West The Hague and ANNA Vastgoed & Cultuur. With the daily opening for exhibitions and the Sunday tours, we want to give the public a stronger feeling for the unique cultural-historical significance of the building, while at the same time providing an insight into a new era. That of the imagination.
