With its 120 by 50 meters, the Markt in Delft is one of the largest historic market squares in Europe. The square is almost rectangular and is bordered on the short sides by the Nieuwe Kerk in the east and the city hall of Delft in the west.
The Markt was built on a silted creek ridge, raised by the river Gantel, and is therefore one of the highest parts of Delft.
