The KB is the national library of the Netherlands. It enables everyone in the Netherlands to research, read, discover and learn throughout their lives, both at home and in the library, online and offline.

National library of the Netherlands

Since its establishment in 1798, the aim has been to collect as much material written in or about the Netherlands as possible. This ranges from medieval manuscripts and newspapers to the Donald Duck and novels from all eras.

Over 120 kilometres of written heritage are now preserved in the warehouse in The Hague. More and more of this collection is being stored digitally. Some 40 million digital newspapers, books, magazines, e-books and websites are already stored in the e-Depot. Researchers are supported with digital resources and datasets. It collaborates with public libraries to promote reading, digital inclusion and lifelong development. In addition, services such as the online Library, Delpher and DBNL are hosted.
