Hart Beach isn’t just for summer. In the colder months, the location turns into a cosy seaside retreat with warm showers, seating areas, crackling fireplaces, and seasonal drinks like hot chocolate and mulled wine. After a fresh beach walk, it’s the perfect place to warm up and unwind.
Surf school with a rich history
The surf culture at Hart Beach goes back to the early 1970s, when Etsko Schuitema launched his surf concept at Vissershavenweg. In 1984, the surf school followed – now the oldest in the Netherlands. Today, Hart Beach is run by his sons Paul and Romke Schuitema, supported by a dedicated crew of certified surf instructors. Surf lessons are available for all levels, from beginner to advanced, and for all ages. Kids can also join surf classes, holiday camps or celebrate their birthday with a beach party.
Year-round surf and more
The permanent beach location of Hart Beach is open year-round. Aside from surfing, there are plenty of ways to relax – even in winter – with food, drinks, and rental options for SUPs, skateboards, longboards or beach volleyball gear.
Group packages and events
Hart Beach offers active group packages all year long. Whether it’s a company outing, birthday or bachelor party, activities like surf lessons, beach games or workshops (like ukulele playing or longboarding) are available. The Surf Village also provides a creative setting for meetings and brainstorms. Large groups can reserve a private section of the terrace. Public events are hosted throughout the year – from themed surf days to food specials and larger beach festivals.
Easy to reach
Hart Beach is located directly on the beach at Strandweg in Scheveningen and is easily accessible. By car, take the route via Scheveningen Haven and park at the Noordelijk Havenhoofd or along the boulevard. Public transport options include tram 11 from Hollands Spoor (a 10-minute walk from the venue), or trams 1 and 16 from Den Haag Centraal heading towards Scheveningen.
