Architecture Day The Hague
The Day of Architecture The Hague gives the public the opportunity to experience the special buildings of The Hague from the inside. Numerous buildings in the city, which are normally inaccessible, open their doors during this day.
Theme 2024
The theme for this year's celebration of national Architecture Day is 'Creating Space'. This has to do with the realization that practically everything around us in our living environment - especially in the Netherlands - has been invented. Is designed. Is made. Spaces have been created. Inside, outside, in the landscape, underground, on the water... With spatial and social issues such as climate change, energy transition, the housing crisis, technology and, for example, the mobility crisis, we are increasingly encountering spatial boundaries. The question arises: is there enough space to accommodate everything we want and need? Is there still room to be made? And is the space still feasible?
This Architecture Day shows in various ways where and how architecture, urban planning and landscape architecture can be used and can offer solutions for the major challenges we face by Creating Space in a special way.

Participating locations
The Architecture Day programme has been announced. Below we give a small preview of what is on the programme.
- Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland: The beautifully renovated Provinciehuis on Zuid-Hollandlaan can be visited again this year. Come to the lecture and register for the guided tours.
- Lecture 800 years of building and renovation at the Binnenhof: On the evening of Friday 7 June, Bram Hulshof (advisor monuments RVB) and Patrick Bosman (advisor monuments care, municipality of The Hague) will take visitors on a journey through 800 years of building at and around the Binnenhof.
- Cycling tour Home in the CID: Jacob Bijl of the Friends of The Hague association will take you through the Central Innovation District ( CID). This area between Laan van Noi, Den Haag Centraal and Den Haag Hollands Spoor stations will be undergoing major development over the next 30 years. Thousands of homes, offices and other functions will be added.
- Jaarsmahof - Winner Berlage Flag: The Jaarsmahof is the winner of the Berlage Flag 2023. This beautiful renovation will host guided tours for all who visit. This activity is organised by The Hague Industrial Heritage Foundation
