Lucas Foglia
They have been following this route for millions of years. Where and when the rain falls and where wildflowers grow is changing rapidly due to climate change. This is why the thistle butterfly relies more and more on our flowering parks, farms and gardens.
As Foglia follows the thistle butterfly through mountains, across the sea and across vast plains, he indirectly but very consciously captures the effects of climate change.
Many of the people he meets along the way are refugees, travelling along the same route to Europe as the butterfly. In the thistle butterfly migration, therefore, Foglia sees an allegory for our delicate and interconnected world.
The exhibition will be accompanied by Foglia's book Constant Bloom, published by Nazraeli Press.
