Christiaan van Tol - Ingredients
He likes to paint landscapes, as well as portraits and situations. He has even done a few non-figurative paintings - but in the long run, he doesn't like that very much. Probably because he also likes to deal with ‘the story’. Hence, perhaps, he also writes poetry.
Situations he calls the paintings that tell a story, usually with one or more people in main and supporting roles. Portraits are portraits, landscapes landscapes. In these genres, he can indulge in all kinds of painting, finding painterly solutions for eyes noses, etc., working with perspective (or not), actual (or not) colours and proportions between planes and lines; in short, he is actually very non-figurative (abstract), except that it also represents something.
