A thousand and one tears - KHERADPICHEH

Each tear is an icon of loss and resilience, a drop from a sea of human experience.In these tears there is an echo of the goddess Anahid, the ancient Persian guardian of water, fertility and protection. Her water flows through the hearts of peoples who revere her as a symbol of feminine strength and purification.

St Mary too carries water in her tears at the cross, in her mercy, which like a spring gives comfort to those who suffer. And Fatima, the Prophet's daughter, whose name travels through time and borders, is revered as a bearer of sorrow, strength and silence. In many cultures, like Mary, she is surrounded by symbolism of water: tears, springs and healing rivers.

The film fragment in the installation distorts, enchants and mirrors KHERADPICHEH's imagery. There is a mystical trace in every reflection. The water moves like memory, like a prayer. The reflection blurs boundaries between earth and sky, between the personal and the collective.

The tear is a contemporary shrine. It reminds us that grief is not just something to bear, but also something to honour: that tears leave traces, purify and connect.
