The bagpipes of Brìghde Chaimbeul
After Rewire 2024, everyone was talking about "that woman with the bagpipes". So that's Brìghde. She plays her own compositions on the traditional Scottish bagpipe (Great Highland bagpipe) and the rediscovered smallpipes (Scottish smallpipes). We are reacquainted with that fascinating instrument as well as with her latest album Sunwise and let ourselves be swept away in repeating piercing clients dancing vividly together .
Ambient music by Kara-Lis Coverdale
Her music feels down to your toes and evokes memories of nineteenth-century programme music, spiritual jazz and new age. Composer and musician Kara-Lis fills the space with the universe. Full of harmony and sensitivity. But although it takes you to other times and places, you are also very much in the here and now. Which is clever, because ambient still tends to make you wander off. Come listen to her nocturnal sound stories with us.
Ai sound art by Farzané
What happens on a sound level when two completely different forms of knowledge influence and challenge each other? Iranian sound artist Farzaneh Nouri lets us see and hear. With on one end of the spectrum the human experiences that are inside the body and different in every culture, and on the other end calculations done by machines. In this live research performance, she works with two improvising AI systems. She controls those systems with movement, via specially designed jewellery with sensors. Instead of streamlining or optimising everything, she looks at where it reinforces each other, where it clashes and where it complements each other. Less mono, more stereo!
