The Infinite Map of What We Remember
11 Feb - 1 Mar
Exhibition
The Infinite Map of What We Remember is an exhibition about memory, city and identity, in which female artists approach The Hague as a living archive.
The Hague is often seen as a city of arrival and departure, shaped by many languages, stories and lives. In The Infinite Map of What We Remember, the city takes centre stage as an ever-changing memory, built up from traces, memories and experiences.
The exhibition brings together female artists who were born in The Hague, live there, or whose work is connected to the city in terms of content. Together, their works do not form a fixed history, but rather an open network of stories. Here, memory is not only recounted, but made visible and tangible in materials, objects, and rituals.
Textiles, found objects and other materials function as carriers of memory. They refer to people who have departed, to generations that preceded us and to experiences stored in bodies and places. Each work stands on its own, but gains meaning in relation to the other works.
The exhibition does not follow a chronological line, but is structured as a constellation. Together, the artists show how memory lives on, continues to expand and constantly takes on new forms.
