Emilio Parrilla Acoustic band: Tribute to Jimmy Giuffre

This ensemble transports the audience into a world of sound characterised by refinement, rhythmic fluidity and collective improvisation. Described by the specialist magazine JazzFlits as chamber jazz of the highest calibre (Hessel Fluitman, 2017), their concerts stand out for the elegance of their sound and the rapport between the musicians on stage. An acoustic sound without drums, which allows space for expressive dynamics. 

Since 2015, the band has taken its music to festivals and venues in Korea, Taiwan, Spain, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Portugal, receiving an enthusiastic reception from audiences and music critics alike on every occasion. 

Their only album to date is a tribute to Jimmy Giuffre and showcases their quest for a distinctive sound, inspired by the legendary clarinettist who profoundly shaped the concept of chamber music within jazz. Writing about this debut album in 2016, Steve Swallow noted that the recording proves that music lives on, even beyond the musician who creates it.
