Fear Me – dance performance at Korzo Theater
28 Jan 2027 - 29 Jan 2027
Fear Me is a personal dance performance that examines fear, even though it’s absolutely terrifying. Fear that creeps up on you and takes hold.
Anxiety about trying to maintain control when every alarm bell in your body is already ringing. Through powerful urban contemporary dance, award-winning choreographer Dalton Jansen has his dancers tell a poignant story without a predictable plot. Feel the tension mounting as courage surges forward.
Representation, connection and sensation
On the floor are one actor and two dancers. Together, they move between panic and hope, between stillness and explosion, between holding on and letting go. They are not seeking explanations, but sensations: lightness within the heavy, and weight within what appears light. In this physical quest, Dalton demonstrates what his work is known for: representing, connecting and touching the audience – qualities that have earned him numerous dance awards.
A personal account that never romanticises
Fear Me is a personal performance about what happens inside the body when tension builds up. It’s about not knowing, and about that realm where light offers no certainty and darkness sometimes becomes a source of protection. It doesn’t romanticise fear, but shows us both the exhaustion and the strength that arise when you keep moving, even when everything inside you is telling you to stop. Because standing still is not an option.
Fear me is supported by De Coproducers, a collective comprising no fewer than fourteen Dutch theatres that believes in innovative artists and productions that make a difference.
