Pritam Das - TAAPITA
Theatre De Regentes presents TAAPITA | The Songs of Desires and Devotions, a four-part Bharatanatyam solo performance by Pritam Das exploring love, longing and devotion, performed in the Grote Zaal on 9 October.
TAAPITA takes you through four distinct worlds, each shaped by fiery passion, deep connection or the pain that can come with love. Choreographer and dancer Pritam Das describes it as a long, sweltering summer day: intense and beautiful at the same time. The dance is accompanied by recorded music.
Four parts, four worlds
The performance opens in the regal atmosphere of the Mannargudi Rajagopalaswamy Temple before moving to Mata Sita's intimate chamber in Lanka. From there, the journey continues into the spiritual landscapes of Odisha, where the centuries-old Bhakti poetry of Banamali Dasa takes shape in movement. The final section arrives at the sanctuary of Bhagawan Vishnu, where love and devotion come together in a still, spiritual close.
