This was the home of city architect and director of town planning Claes Dircx van Balckeneynde.
This carpenter is known for his boarded-up wooden ceilings. Protruding beams became a thing of the past thanks to his designs (the name Balckeneynde means beams end). This palace builder worked on buildings such as Noordeinde Palace and Huis ten Bosch Palace. The house with the slightly sloping original sandstone facade is still in its original state and can be visited during guided tours organised by Buitenmuseum.
