Swimming in the sea is a wonderful adventure. The water, the waves, the freedom it feels like a holiday. But the sea can also be treacherous. At ABZee, you learn how to enjoy swimming in the sea safely. Not just in the classroom, but especially in the water itself. Together with experienced lifeguards, you practice in the real sea. That way, you learn what to do if things go wrong for yourself and for others. At ABZee, they give workshops for children, parents with children and adults. Want to go to sea safely? That's what you learn at ABZee.
Learning to swim safely in the North Sea
Since 2014, ABZee has been teaching children, families, adults, schools and companies how to swim and play sports in the North Sea safely. Based in Scheveningen, they provide hands-on lessons focusing on awareness, knowledge and experience. Swimming in the sea is healthy and fun, but also unpredictable and sometimes dangerous. Think of mussels, strong currents, wave action, wind influences and rapidly changing weather conditions many people are not or hardly aware of this.
From theory to practice, directly in the North Sea
ABZee wants to raise awareness and teach participants practical skills. During workshops and series of lessons, participants learn, under the guidance of certified lifeguards, about the dangers of sea swimming. They learn to recognise risks and know what to do if they or someone else gets into trouble. The lessons consist of a combination of theory on the beach and direct practice in the sea. This way, what is learned is immediately applied in realistic conditions.
