The English Church, also called the Church of St. John and St. Philip, is located in Scheveningen, near the Scheveningse bosjes. The church is part of the international Anglican Church community, so church services are also conducted in English. There are several services on Sundays, but there is also a service every afternoon during the week.

History

The English church has been located in The Hague since 1586. The community has already occupied four different locations and churches, with the current location having been in use since 1952. The Church of St John & St Philip is part of the international Anglican Communion, which is located in 40 different countries.

Construction

The English church was built in the period between 1950 - 1952, after the previous church was destroyed. The architect was J. Smit. Many of the International Anglican churches were built in the neo-Gothic style and are smaller in size. So is the Church of St John & St Philip.

Accessibility

The English Church is located in Scheveningen and is easily accessible by public transport, as well as by car. Scheveningen is easily accessible by car via the A12 and the N440. There is sufficient parking space in the vicinity of the church. Timorstraat offers sufficient parking facilities. The English Church is also very easy to reach by public transport; tram 1 and bus 22 and 24 stop within walking distance of the English Church.
