A photographic journey into the future of the ocean

Behind every photograph lies a story. Travel through inspiring images from the Netherlands and Europe and discover the people, projects and technologies shaping a sustainable future — with the ocean as a source of innovation.

During Blue Week 2026 in The Hague, two special photographic exhibitions will be on display. Together, they use powerful imagery to show how innovative solutions at sea can contribute to a sustainable future. The exhibitions will first be on display at the Atrium in The Hague from 15 to 25 September, followed by the Provincial Government Building of South Holland from 8 October until early January.

 Power from the Ocean
European innovations in wave and tidal energy
An inspiring photographic exhibition featuring international ocean energy pioneers and their technologies. Through a carefully curated collection of high-quality photographs from Ocean Energy Europe members, discover what is already happening in wave energy, tidal energy, salinity gradient energy and SWAC — an innovative cooling technology that uses cold deep-sea water to cool buildings.

Bring in the Dutch!
Dutch innovations for a blue future
This photographic exhibition tells the broader story of Dutch offshore innovation. From wave and tidal energy to floating solar, energy storage and marine ecology, the photographs show how ocean innovation is already becoming part of everyday life in the Netherlands. The exhibition also highlights the innovation ecosystem around the port of Scheveningen, where entrepreneurs are developing sustainable, green and smart solutions for the future. The exhibition is curated by Bluespring.

More than technology
The goal is to make ocean innovation visible, relatable, and inspiring. Rather than focusing only on technical details, it shows how these developments connect to our coasts, ports, cities, people and everyday lives.

Visitors should leave with a simple realization: the future of ocean innovation is not far away—it is already happening.
