The Grote or St. Jacobskerk, together with the Binnenhof, is one of the oldest buildings in The Hague. Presumably there already existed a wooden church in the 13th century. The view of the city center from the Hague tower is beautiful. The Grote Kerk is also worth a visit because of its appearance. The building has remained the property of the Protestant community, but is managed by the Stichting Grote of Sint-Jacobskerk which opens it up to all kinds of activities and tourist visits. The Grote Kerk has strong ties with the royal house: several members of the royal family were baptized there and Queen Wilhelmina, Queen Juliana and Princess Margriet were married in the Grote Kerk.
