Tales and Mutability is a musical theatre production accompanied by Nieuw Amsterdams Peil, exploring how we can connect with one another beyond stereotypes and miscommunication.

Various characters live there in their own worlds, each with their own language: a singer with melody, an actor with words and a dancer with movement. But what happens when their paths cross, no single voice prevails and their languages merge?

From opera singing to dance, from the alto flute to the cassette tape

The characters in *Tales and Mutability* are The Seer, The Pirate Princess and The Trickster: played by actors, singers, various musicians and dancers. With live music by Wilma Pistorius (1992), a visual interplay with cassette tapes and the ever-changing sounds of the characters, a world emerges in which you gradually hear a shared sound take shape. Hopeful, new. Who knows, perhaps it will change the way you listen too.
