Winged
"Winged" is a dance performance by Kalpanarts about the balance between connection and individuality. Inspired by the behavior of flocks of birds, the dancers blend Indian and Western contemporary dance, accompanied by live music from HIIIT.
How do you move together without losing yourself? In times of polarization, the dance performance *Winged* takes you on a journey through this pressing question, inspired by flocks of birds. With its colorful cast, the Kalpanarts dance company blends Indian and Western contemporary dance forms into a single, soaring whole. And thanks to the intense live rhythms of HIIIT, you can let yourself be completely swept away on a deeply human quest for our times.
Dancers propelling one another forward, breaking apart, and reconnecting
A flock of birds has no leader or fixed hierarchy. And yet, breathtaking precision emerges when they fly together as a single body. In *Winged*, dancers form ever-changing constellations. They propel each other forward, catch each other, break out of structures, and return. The tension between autonomy and connectedness becomes palpable in the body, and the music only amplifies that feeling even further.
HIIIT’s live rhythm as the driving force behind the choreography
In this Kalpanarts production as well, rhythmic patterns, live energy, and layered compositions form the beating heart of the choreography. Indian influences meet Western soundscapes, creating a hypnotic flow in which body and sound become one—like birds in flight heading toward their destination.
