Voorlinden presents the first major museum overview of the work of Claire Tabouret (1981). In her solo exhibition at Voorlinden, the French painter showcases the breadth of her oeuvre, her groundbreaking practices and her perspective on complex themes such as identity and interpersonal relationships.

On 31 January 2026, her exhibition will open at Voorlinden, and at the end of next year, her stained-glass windows for Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris will also be unveiled.

Painting on canvas, faux fur, plexiglass sheets, bronze sculptures and ceramics – nothing is beyond Claire Tabouret. The figurative painter stretches the traditional boundaries of painting. She plays with art-historical themes and reflects on human relationships, on how you see yourself – as an individual and in a group. Her portraits often hold up a mirror to the viewer: what do you see, strength or vulnerability? She paints with a colourful palette, sometimes using almost fluorescent colours, sometimes applying thin, transparent layers of paint. Her work is at times classical and romantic, at other times dark and mysterious. Meanwhile, it is imbued with personal views, stories and memories, but also based on images she has found on the internet or in archives.
