Zuiderpark Live: Orchestra Baobab
World music
Orchestra Baobab live at the Zuiderparktheater in The Hague! Timeless Senegalese grooves and Latin influences, featuring their new album Made In Sénégal.
Orchestra Baobab was founded in Dakar in 1970 and grew to become one of Africa's most important bands. The group combines traditional Senegalese styles (such as Mandinka, Wolof and Serer) with Latin rhythms and a warm, elegant atmosphere. After their successful early years, the band made a strong comeback in the early 2000s, thanks in part to producer Nick Gold (known for Buena Vista Social Club). Since then, Orchestra Baobab has continued to appeal to new generations with their recognisable, compelling groove.
The new album 'Made In Sénégal' will follow in October 2025. This album is an ode to Senegal and its rich musical culture. From Casamance to Saint-Louis, the band explores various regional influences. With contributions from Baaba Maal, among others, Orchestra Baobab bridges the gap between tradition and the future. After more than fifty years, Orchestra Baobab continues to prove that their music is timeless.
