Zuiderparktheater

The Zuiderparktheater is an open-air theatre on an island in the middle of Zuiderpark in The Hague. It is a unique place where culture and nature come together. Be surprised by a summer programme full of music, theatre, and family performances.

Theatre in the middle of Zuiderpark

The Zuiderparktheater is The Hague's summer theatre! The open-air theatre is located like a desert island in the middle of the green oasis of the Zuiderpark. The theatre is located in the largest district of The Hague: Escamp. What makes it extra special is that the theatre is largely run by over 100 enthusiastic volunteers and a small core team.

From May to September, there is plenty to do in and around our theatre. From international artists on stage at Zuiderpark Live, festivals such as the Haags Beat Festival, a summer concert by the Residentie Orkest and the sultry Latin in the Park.

During the summer holidays, the six-week-long 'Vakantiepark' has been a regular fixture for three years now! Various social 'Backyard' activities, such as the Summer Café, are organised for the Escamp district.

Bad weather protocol

The Zuiderparktheater is an open-air theatre and has a bad weather protocol, whereby performances will always go ahead unless the KNMI issues a code red weather warning. In consultation with the artist, another day will then be chosen to reschedule the performance. If an activity is cancelled, you will always find an announcement about this on the website and on the Zuiderparktheater's social media channels.

In the event of a thunderstorm, the performance will be interrupted and the audience will be taken to a safe place. Once the weather is safe again, a decision will be made in consultation with the artist as to whether the performance can continue. Umbrellas are not permitted for safety reasons. In rainy weather, please bring a poncho and dress warmly.
