Barthkapel

With this program, Les Arcs Ensemble presents more than a traditional chamber music concert; they offer a musical encounter between cultures, histories, and identities. Bringing together Rito en Díptico by Jorge Amado Molina and the String Quintet No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 97 by Antonín Dvořák, they create a bridge from Havana to Bohemia — a dialogue in which folk traditions are transformed into vibrant and expressive chamber music.

Both composers draw deeply from their cultural roots: Dvořák, during his time in America, was inspired by African-American spirituals, Native American melodies, and the folk music of his Bohemian homeland; Molina channels the pulse of rumba, Afro-Cuban ritual, and ceremonial movement into a contemporary musical language. Despite differences in century and geography, they share a common artistic impulse — to elevate cultural identity into universal expression.
