A black, glass-like object with an irregular shape.

From Friday 29 May, Stroom The Hague presents ⌀ [dia], the first solo exhibition in the Netherlands by artist Ana María Gómez López.

Ten self-experiments

In this unique exhibition in The Hague, art, science and the human body come together in a sensory experience that invites visitors to see the world in a different light. Through self-experiments, photography, video installations and unusual objects, Ana María Gómez López explores how bodily processes are connected to larger ecological and natural systems.

During ⌀ [dia], the body takes centre stage as a source of knowledge and experience. The artist carries out impressive experiments, including growing a pearl in her mouth, germinating a seed in her eye and orienting herself using magnetic fields, inspired by migratory birds. Some experiments are still developing during the exhibition, meaning that every visit can be different.

The exhibition at Stroom Den Haag demonstrates how contemporary art, science and personal experience can reinforce one another at a time when technology and data are increasingly influencing how we understand the world.
