Muzikanten op een podium met ballonnen

Following the successful and enthusiastically received summer concert dedicated to Erik Satie in 2025, Ensemble Klang and organist Geerten van de Wetering return to the Waalse Kerk in The Hague for another atmospheric French summer evening. With *Tour de France!*, they will take the audience on a musical journey through the rich world of French sound, featuring special arrangements for Ensemble Klang’s unique line-up – saxophones, trombone, guitar, percussion and piano – combined with the organ.

A musical prelude to the summer holidays

This year’s programme centres on works by Claude Debussy, Germaine Tailleferre and the lesser-known Ernest Chausson. Three composers who, each in their own way, played an innovative role in the vibrant Parisian music scene around 1900.

The programme includes, amongst other works, arrangements from Debussy’s *Petite Suite* (originally for piano four hands). Germaine Tailleferre – the only woman in the Groupe des Six, a group of Parisian composers that had initially formed around Erik Satie – also wrote for piano four-hands (and two pianos), as well as for solo organ. Her elegant and clear style is reminiscent of the simplicity and charm of Erik Satie. Chausson wrote beautiful, poetic songs, some instrumental arrangements of which will be performed in this concert.

With Barcelona hosting the Grand Départ of this year’s Tour de France, the programme also includes a musical nod to Spain: Maurice Ravel’s famous Bolero, in a brand-new arrangement for this line-up, provides a rousing Spanish dance to round off the concert!

Experience an atmospheric French summer evening concert in the intimate Waalse Kerk with Ensemble Klang and organist Geerten van de Wetering, as a musical prelude to the summer holidays!
