The show 'Make Self-Criticism Great Again' is the debut try-out one-man theatre show by speaker, writer and LGBTIQ+ activist Ronald Mol, performed at Het Zeeheldentheater in Scheveningen, The Hague. With two remarkable guest speakers by his side, he delivers a personal and layered theatre programme about visibility, self-criticism and community.
Ronald Mol is known for his sharp writing, his direct way of speaking and his long-standing commitment to the rainbow community in the Netherlands. In this try-out, he brings those worlds together on stage: personal, political and laced with humour. His background as a police officer in Amsterdam and later as chief conductor at NS gave him a unique perspective on people from all walks of life. That broad experience forms the backbone of his theatre show, in which self-criticism is not a weakness but a strength.
Guest speakers joining Ronald Mol at Het Zeeheldentheater
Mol does not perform alone. Astrid Oosenbrug, former chair and eight months interim chair of COC Nederland, shares the stage with him. She is joined by Looi van Kessel, assistant professor of Literary Studies and Gender Studies at Leiden University and editor-in-chief of the Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies. Together they add depth to the themes Mol explores: LGBTIQ+ visibility, social positioning and the value of honest self-reflection.
