Institute of Sonology – Discussion Concert electroacoustic music
2 Dec - 7 Apr 2027
Classical music in The Hague has a distinctive edge at the Royal Conservatoire: the Discussion Concerts of the Institute of Sonology bring electroacoustic music to the Conservatoire Hall at Amare. Students, electronic music classics and international guest composers share a single programme.
The Discussion Concerts of the Institute of Sonology have long been a key platform for electroacoustic music in the Netherlands. Each concert offers a different programme, combining works by students of the Royal Conservatoire with historic electronic compositions and pieces by invited guest composers from the Netherlands and abroad. The Conservatoire Hall at Amare provides the ideal setting, with professional sound equipment and acoustics built for exactly this kind of music.

The concerts are not a side product of the curriculum, they are a core part of it. Students handle the entire production as part of the Sound Engineering in Electronic Music course, taking full responsibility for what the audience hears from start to finish. In the week following each concert, students and staff discuss the programme during the weekly colloquium, making every performance a learning experience as well.
