The Sand Party Returns: Life After The Warm Up II

Seven years after its first edition, The Sand Party returns to the basement of Grey Space in the Middle, this time with ten tons of sand. Life After the Warm Up II centres on a new site-specific installation by artist Berk Duygun. By effectively relocating part of Scheveningen's beach underground, an artificial landscape takes shape in a space designed to keep the weather out. Climate change here is not an abstract threat, but a present reality already transforming landscapes, seasons and everyday behaviour.

Collective life in a shifting landscape

Rather than producing another representation of environmental catastrophe, Life After the Warm Up II examines adaptation as a spatial, social and cultural practice. What forms of collective life, leisure and pleasure emerge when environmental conditions become unstable, and when elements of nature increasingly have to be reconstructed, controlled or relocated? That question runs through everything the festival offers.

Two days of art and nightlife at Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague

Across two days, artists, musicians, DJs and artist-run initiatives activate the temporary sand landscape with installations, performances, live music, workshops and collective experiments. The Sand Party Returns brings contemporary art and nightlife into the same environment, allowing research, celebration and social gathering to exist alongside one another rather than as separate worlds.
