The Hague String Trio: three musicians performing chamber music on stage

Classical music at the New Church in The Hague: The Hague String Trio celebrates its 20th anniversary with Highlights!, a concert featuring the best of two decades of performing together.

Twenty years of playing together leave their mark on a repertoire. For this anniversary concert, Justyna, Julia and Miriam put together a programme that traces that journey piece by piece, from the three CDs they released with Cobra Records to Visions of Goldberg, the project centred on Bach's Goldberg Variations.

The programme of Highlights!

The concert opens with Bach's Goldberg Variations in Dmitri Sitkovetsky's arrangement, followed by the Aria with a selection of variations. Next come works by Emmy Frensel Wegener (Suite for violin, viola and cello), Géza Frid (Trio à cordes op. 1) and Hans Krása, whose Tanz was written in Terezín in 1943. The programme closes with Beethoven's String Trio op. 9 no. 1 in G major. The choice is no coincidence: Beethoven's string trios have been a constant in the ensemble's repertoire for two decades, and 2027 marks exactly 200 years since his death.
