A Ceremony of Carols
On Sunday 20 December, come and enjoy a special Christmas concert at Theater Diligentia. During A Ceremony of Carols, the international ensemble La Chapelle Sauvage, led by conductor Karel De Wilde, will present an atmospheric programme of classical Christmas music by Benjamin Britten, John Tavener and Arvo Pärt.
An atmospheric Christmas concert
Let yourself be carried away by beautiful choral sounds, enchanting harp music and soothing melodies. The centrepiece of this Christmas concert is A Ceremony of Carols by the British composer Benjamin Britten. This remarkable piece consists of twelve short movements in which vocals and harp come together. The alternation between cheerful, sparkling and subdued music creates a special Christmas atmosphere.
Alongside Britten’s work, the programme also features compositions by John Tavener and Arvo Pärt. Their music is renowned for its combination of silence, simplicity and emotion. Together, these works form a varied programme full of musical highlights.
