History
The Bierkade, originally called the Bierkaay, owes its name to its past. When The Hague was not yet a city and beer was not yet allowed to be made, beer from mainly Delft was brought into The Hague via the Bierkaay. Here, beer was allowed to be traded by the residents of the Bierkade, biersteiners. The Dunne Bierkade got its name because thin/light beer was traded here.

Accessibility
The (Dunne) Bierkade is a five-minute walk from Den Haag Hollands Spoor Station and ten minutes from CS. Moreover, several trams and buses stop nearby. From both train stations, the Veenkade can be reached fastest by tram 17 towards Statenkwartier.
